![]() ![]() He had to do everything by himself and invest in the movie out of his own pocket. But he spent a lot time and efforts trying to find some professional directors to direct this movie and investors to invest but in vain because no one thinks this genre would be popular. He admitted in an interview that he really didn't want to direct the movie because he was not a professional director. It's understandable, because the main protagonist directed the movie himself. However, I'd say the directing is the biggest weakness of the movie. The actions in this movie are a reflection of, but a little glorified, modern military combat. And it's not tradition Chinese martial arts which is mainly for the purpose of performance and exercise, not practical combat. Chinese movie is famous for action genres but this one is the first hybrid of genres of action and military. It's also a milestone in Chinese movie genres. I've also read that some of the action sequences are actually coming from real Chinese special force members who invented them and put them in use in reality. It's rapid-paced, intense and quite entertaining. Bonus footage and trailer await.I personally enjoyed this movie a lot. ![]() Think less, enjoy the action :) Pro-tip: Stay till after the end of the film. Firmly announcing "Watch out for China," Wolf Warrior does pinches at time, in propagandist tones. "Once a wolf warrior, always a wolf warrior." Nationalism, the centrality of China and her military/economic/political prowess were featured prominently. Overall, Wu Jing certainly make this sequel louder and larger than the first. Amidst the wide Chinese diaspora and prominence as a superpower, Wu Jing is not ashamed to chide America as a power of the past through this film. ![]() There were scenes which were clear to me that was dedicated at stirring nationalistic sentiments, invoking pride, dignity and a sense of empowerment among Chinese nationals. Propagandist tinges, like the first, were clearly evident. Does it always have to be that loud to be eye-catching? The larger than life action while appreciated, deserves questioning for its hyper-realism. Generous with the servings of choreographed close combat action, big guns (tanks) and firepower, Wolf Warrior 2 does impress! However, that's when it got me thinking. Awesome action, Propagandist pinch Having been in anticipation of Wolf Warrior 2 since February, Wu Jing's work doesn't disappoint. ![]()
